SICILIA: 1.5 MILLION IN CO-FINANCING OF AUDIO-VISUAL PRODUCTIONS

A call for applications for the co-financing of audio-visual works to be produced in the region has been published on the Sicilia Film Commission website, by the assessore al Turismo, sport e spettacolo della Regione Siciliana (councillor for tourism, sport and entertainment of the Region of Sicilia). The incentive is managed by the Ufficio speciale per il Cinema e l’Audiovisivo (Special Office for Cinema and Audiovisual) and the Sicilia Film Commission as part of the Sensi Contemporanei project and is financed with resources from the Patto per la Sicilia – Fsc 2014-2020.

The incentive is aimed at national, European and worldwide production companies offering co-financing for feature length films for theatrical release and TV, TV series (including documentaries), documentaries and short films for up to 50% of the eligible expenses.

 The total budget of €1,525,000, which can be further augmented, is divided as follows:

  • €1,075,000 for feature-length drama films for TV or cinema release and TV drama series;
  • €400,000 for documentaries and TV documentary series;
  • €50,000 for short films.

The maximum amount available for co-financing is:

  • €200,000 for feature-length drama films for TV or cinema release and TV drama series;
  • €40,000 for documentaries and TV documentary series;
  • €15,000 for short films.

The investment in the region must be equal to at least 100% of the amount granted. Applications may be made for projects, which must enhance the uniqueness of the Sicilian territory, that are in preparation or began principal photography no earlier than 1 January 2019.

The application form will be available on the dedicated page of the website of the Assessorato Turismo, Sport, Spettacolo della Regione Siciliana – Ufficio Speciale per il Cinema e l’Audiovisivo / Sicilia Film Commission within one week.

The deadline for applications is 6 August 2019.
