MIA | CINEMA CO-PRODUCTION MARKET & PITCHING FORUM (October 19th – 22nd, 2017).
Through targeted networking and punctual scouting initiatives, and following the producers’ requests and needs, every year the Cinema Co-Production Market showcases a selection of projects under development, in particular the most wide-ranging ones and those most suitable for co-production, so that they can find the ideal partners for their artistic and economic finalization.
For each selected project, MIA’s staff pre-organizes a personalized one-to-one meetings agenda. Each project is showcased to a shortlist of International producers selected according tospecific criteria and thanks to the constant scouting work carried out in cooperation with the most relevant examples of international film promotion and with MIA’s International Board of Advisors.
Established as a benchmark for the European and International players in the co-production market, over the past editions the Co-Production Market has successfully led more than 50% of the selected films to their completion. Among them, to mention only a few titles: OUT by Gyorgy Kristof, MOBILE HOMES by Vladimir de Fontenay and CUORI PURI by Roberto De Paolis (all presented at Cannes 2017); THE PARTY by Sally Potter (Berlinale 2017); PEACE TO US IN OUR DREAMS by Sharunas Bartas (Cannes, Stockholm, Haifa); SWORN VIRGIN by Laura Bispuri (Berlin, Tribeca, BFI Flare); JAUJA by Lisandro Alonso (Cannes, San Sebastian, London, Karlovy Vary, Toronto, Busan); THE SELFISH GIANT by Clio Barnard(Cannes, Sarajevo, Karlovy Vary, Rio de Janeiro, BFI London); SOUTH IS NOTHING by Fabio Mollo (Toronto, Berlin, Raindance, San Francisco); ZERO MOTIVATION by Talya Lavie (Tribeca, Vancouver, London, Hong Kong).
